Contribute to a strong collaborative and supportive culture with a focus on underwriting supportWork from home and officeThe Underwriting Support role is focused on supporting portfolio health and growth by providing exceptional service, expertise, and advice for Direct Packages, Commercial Motor, and Strata portfolios.
This role contributes to growth and underwriting of profitable risk through the provision of expertise and advice and the delivery of exceptional customer service.
Delivered in accordance with individual underwriting delegated underwriting authority, the Underwriting Support team will design, develop, deliver, and maintain a program of work that enhances capability in Distribution, identifies trends, risks, and opportunities in Underwriting appetite, and demonstrates external awareness and commercial acumen as applied across portfolio dynamics.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Respond to call centre requests via telephone or referral as allocated and within Delegated Underwriting AuthorityUnderwriting of new, referral business, and renewals in alignment with current underwriting, selection, and pricing guidelinesMaintain a focus on retention and growth of the business portfolio whilst adhering to the policies and guidelinesPrepare and make recommendations for risk acceptance or declinature on business outside your agreed DUA within business appetiteCalculate and assess risk of acceptance while keeping our customers at the forefront of any underwriting decisionUnderstand Customers' needs to negotiate the best outcome in terms and conditions for renewals and new businessActively collaborate across the team and the broader business to support the achievement of strategic goals and action plansActively support in the development and coaching of Contact Centre team membersReviewing and giving feedback on the underwriting controlsSkills & Experience: Minimum of 3 years within the Insurance industryA background of providing strong customer serviceUnderstanding of relevant Insurance products, industry, market environment, reinsurance structures, and customer segmentAbility to implement effective negotiation and decision-making skills in line with risk appetiteWell-developed interpersonal skills within a team environmentGood communication skills both written and verbalPossess strong initiative, high attention to detail, and problem-solving skillsProactive stakeholder awareness and engagement, with the end customer at the forefront of mindStrong team playerFocused on customer service including identifying our customers' needs and delivering on promisesCulture: Working as part of the Suncorp Group you will have access to an unparalleled range of job opportunities across insurance and corporate services.
