Join the dynamic Commercial Underwriting team at QBE as we seek a strategic and visionary Underwriting Manager in our Commercial Property team responsible for the QLD region. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the execution of our product strategy within the regional business, offering astute leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to our underwriting teams. Your responsibilities will encompass the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of our strategic initiatives, ensuring the delivery of specialized advice and support to both internal and external stakeholders. By leveraging your expertise, you will empower QBE to cultivate a profitable portfolio and surpass customer expectations.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring national and regional product strategies in collaboration with Regional Product teams.
• Contribute to cross-business knowledge sharing and best practice development.
• Manage regional product budgets and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Implement uniform process improvements nationwide.
• Uphold underwriting guidelines and standards.
• Support underwriting of complex risks within authority limits and organizational policies.
• Foster relationships with intermediaries.
• Coordinate regional peer audit reviews.
• Some inter-regional travel required.

About you

We are seeking a qualified candidate to join QBE as an Underwriting Manager - Commercial Property. The ideal candidate would possess strong Property underwriting skills coupled with effective leadership management abilities. Experience in cultivating relationships, adept communication, negotiation skills, and the capacity to influence at a senior level within the insurance industry are highly valued. Analytical prowess and adept problem-solving abilities are essential. Previous experience in underwriting or portfolio management roles would be advantageous, along with a proven track record of success in meeting underwriting KPIs aligned with the demands of the position.
