Underwriting (Insurance & Superannuation) Full time Attractive salary + bonus + great benefits Engage with Senior Underwriters, Technical Specialists, Underwriting Managers, and Practice Leaders for complex decision making, advice and feedbackAdelaide Location + Flexible working conditionsThe role: The role of Underwriter Profin performs day-to-day operational underwriting functions within a State Underwriting team through the underwriting and negotiating of individual policy renewals, new business, and mid-term policy adjustments in accordance with the Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA).
This crucial role contributes within the State to the execution of the Commercial Portfolio Strategy through the application of product, pricing, customer retention, and acquisition strategies to deliver the targeted Insurance Trading Result (ITR) for the Product(s).
The Underwriter Profin role also involves growing and developing key intermediary relationships, delivering exceptional customer service, collaborating with other teams, removing any blockages to performance, escalating issues, and proactively looking for ways to simplify and improve the underwriting processes.
Key Accountabilities: Underwrite new and renewal business within the scope of individual Delegated Underwriting Authority to achieve the strategic and financial goals of the Commercial Portfolio strategy.Conduct renewal reviews to ensure business is re-underwritten in alignment with current underwriting, selection, and pricing guidelines and implement corrective or remedial actions when appropriate.Underwrite new business in alignment with current underwriting, selection, and pricing guidelines.Monitor ongoing policy performance to identify opportunities for remedial or corrective underwriting.Underwrite using approved tools and in complete alignment with agreed underwriting processes and guidelines.Skills & Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Insurance Market is desirable.Demonstrated ability to influence in the commercial Broker and Adviser insurance market to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.Ability to determine referral or escalation of risks outside of appetite.Ability to underwrite in accordance with Risk Appetite, Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA), Underwriting Guidelines, and Business Licence.Knowledge of relevant General Insurance practices and policies.What we can offer: A range of flexible working and leave options, including 20 weeks paid parental leave, 4 weeks paid secondary carer parental leave, and unlimited paid emergency response leave.Discounts and offers on a range of retail favourite stores as well as insurance products.Give back to our communities with payroll giving, donation matching, and paid volunteer leave.Invest in your brighter future with ongoing study support and career development programs.Prioritise your work/life balance with our robust employee assistance program and dedicated employee council.Employee benefits Suncorp Group At Suncorp we believe we are our best when our workforce is as diverse, talented, and passionate as the communities in which we live and operate, and where our people feel included, valued, and connected.
