Job Opportunity: Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting Full time employment opportunity for a Senior/Underwriter to join our Financial Lines team.
The role focuses on building the business with our national brokers writing risks across multiple financial lines.
We are seeking an individual who us intelligent, passionate, and always striving towards excellence.
You should be great with people and comfortable working closely with all functions of our business including legal, actuarial, claims as well as other underwriters across the broader BHSI team.

This position is a great fit for an Underwriter looking to expand their responsibilities and underwriting knowledge with an experienced and well-regarded unit within a top global insurance company.
Duties & Responsibilities: Manage and build upon a book of business that is consistent with the team's strategic focus and risk appetite across multiple financial lines products Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships to maximise new and renewal business opportunities across the national broker distribution channel Underwrite assigned accounts while ensuring appropriate risk analysis of previous claims history, financial reports, and additional information to determine exposure and underwriting terms Review submissions from brokers, providing quotes in a timely manner and within their delegated authority Negotiate and define the specific terms of insurance policies, pricing, and coverage enhancements with brokers Work collaboratively with Actuary, and other underwriters to derive appropriate premium and monitor the ongoing policy performance Collaborate with our Claims team to help create a positive and transparent experience for our customers Keep abreast of market conditions and trends, providing feedback to Product and Portfolio leaders as necessary Qualifications, Skills, and Experience: At least 5 years' experience in Financial Lines, preferably in an underwriting role Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex financial data and make sound decisions Existing broker and customer relationships, or experience and the ability to develop strong broker and customer relationships quickly Underwriting acumen in all Liability lines Experience and understanding of relevant Policy forms Experience marketing to specialised brokers Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with all levels and disciplines Strong communication skills including negotiation, communications, and presentation experience Degree or equivalent education, and/or strong insurance qualifications are highly desirable Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Team Member may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organisation.
