This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland's Fitness and Probity regime. AXA XL is looking for an experienced Underwriter to join our International Financial Lines team focusing on our range of Management Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance products.
Key Responsibilities: Review complex submissions including applications, policy wordings, loss runs, and financial reports while conducting appropriate research to determine the degree of risk for each account and compliance with AXA XL underwriting appetite.Calculate appropriate risk premium and determine appropriate policy terms and conditions in accordance with designated underwriting tools, rules, and guidelines.Proactively advise, assist, service, and follow up with brokers and/or clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements.Manage relationships to initiate opportunities for cross-selling offered products and ensure account retention.Monitor underwriting and financial metrics for your portfolio to ensure contribution to business unit profitability.Support the business reporting, planning, and forecasting processes.Maintain awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims as appropriate.Work collaboratively in a team environment, assisting underwriters, underwriting assistants, claims colleagues, and management team.Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree preferred and proven underwriting experience in the relevant classes of business.Perform tasks according to established procedures, with ability to exercise discretion.Use judgment to identify and solve day-to-day problems in straightforward situations.Effectively plan for sales and business development, integrating various techniques, tools, and information to support profitable business growth.Plan, structure, and conduct negotiations with brokers and/or clients to reach mutually acceptable outcomes.Visualize, gather information, articulate, analyze, and solve complex problems to make key business decisions.Build excellent interpersonal relationships with brokers, clients, and colleagues to improve personal profile and reputation within AXA XL and the broader market.Make underwriting decisions to fulfill business strategic plan and deliver results, with knowledge of financial targets and levers.Understand the insurance industry and specific product portfolios to positively impact the underwriting business.AXA XL's Commitment: We are committed to equal employment opportunity and will consider applicants regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, marital status, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
