About the Role Toll Uncrewed Systems, a Division of Toll Aviation, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as the Deputy Chief Remote Instructor. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient management, deployment, and reporting of training within the Toll Uncrewed Systems division. You will work closely with the Chief Remote Pilot and other key stakeholders to ensure training excellence and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of remote instructors specializing in drone training. Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development to ensure instructors are equipped to deliver high-quality training. Ensure compliance and develop course materials that pertain to the CASA MOS 101 Training standards for various licensing courses. Establish and maintain standards for instructional delivery that meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Oversee the planning and execution of training events, including risk assessments to ensure training is conducted safely and in accordance with training standards and processes. Conduct regular assessments of instructor performance to ensure consistency, effectiveness, safety, and compliance in training events. Build relationships with industry stakeholders, drone manufacturers, and regulatory bodies to stay informed about industry trends and advancements. Collaborate with industry partners to offer specialized training programs or certifications that meet specific industry needs. Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required. Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need:
Subject matter excellence in CASA Part 101 Civil Aviation Safety Regulations and Manual of Standards. Subject matter excellence in drone types and specialist equipment used by the business. Experience in curriculum development, practical and theoretical training design and development. Highly motivated with strong organizational and time management skills. Able to prioritize and work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines. Advanced use of the MS Office Suite in programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Publisher, Visio, and/or Access. Qualifications Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or a pilot instructor rating issued under Part 61 of CASR. A minimum of 20 logged hours of non-training operational experience in RPA operations under a ReOC, operating each of the RPAS categories for which they will be conducting practical RePL training. Relevant CASA qualifications or endorsements for courses being delivered, including: CASA Sub 7kg Multi-rotor and Fixed wing. CASA Sub 25kg Multi-Rotor and VTOL. Aeronautical Radio Operators Certificate. CASA Sub 150kg VTOL (preferred). CASA Sub 150kg Multi-Rotor (T40/T50 Agras) (preferred). BVLOS OCTA Aeronautical Knowledge exam or IREX Exam - PASS. BVLOS and EVLOS Class 1 and 2 operational experience. Advanced demonstrated use and understanding of Uncrewed and Aviation Systems software (e.g., Mission Planner, AVCRM, DJI Pilot, DJI Flight Hub, NAIPS, CASA Portals, Airdata, OZ Runways). Critical thinking capability to analyze complex issues, evaluate perspectives, and make informed decisions based on evidence and research. Customer service orientation - detailed understanding and strong curiosity about our customers and what adds value to them. Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills. Ability to resolve conflict to a positive, business value-added outcome. Ability to establish and maintain effective support and rapport with personnel at all levels. What Moves You?
