This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the NIAA delegate. Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years. A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment; however, this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

You will be working in diverse teams and engaging with Indigenous communities, leaders, and service providers to deliver outcomes in line with community aspirations on behalf of the Australian Government. Some of the responsibilities of the roles are:
APS5 Engagement Officers work as part of a team with support and broad direction of senior staff in their branch. They are responsible for the effective and efficient administration of a variety of tasks and activities relating to grant management and stakeholder engagement. They undertake their work to achieve results, in line with agreed goals and business plans, to deliver high-quality services and outcomes for NIAA stakeholders. They may be required to supervise staff. APS6 Senior Engagement Officers assist to lead and manage the day-to-day activities of their team. They work closely with community members to build relationships, identify opportunities and partner to deliver outcomes. In addition, Senior Engagement Officers work closely with funded providers, government, and other stakeholders to facilitate partnerships to respond to community needs and key government initiatives. They ensure decisions are made within defined legislative, policy, and procedural parameters and are generally required to supervise staff. All Engagement officers may have the opportunity to travel within urban, regional, and remote settings to assist in building strong relationships with Indigenous people to deliver on Australian Government priorities.
