Assistant Director, West and South Group Employment Type: Ongoing & Non-ongoing (for an initial period of up to 12 months)
Classification: Executive Level 1 ($121,717 - $138,722)
This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the NIAA delegate. Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years. A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

The Opportunity: The Assistant Director is a key leadership position within the West South Group (WSG) Executive Support Team. They have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities. The role has people, coordination, policy, program, and stakeholder management responsibilities. They manage employees and take responsibility for their overall performance.
The role nurtures and manages a range of key internal and external stakeholder relationships and networks. The Assistant Director works with a considerable degree of independence, under broad direction from the WSG Executive Officer. They are responsible for planning and delivering the branch work program, reporting on progress against performance and quality indicators. They are responsible for ensuring that performance measures for the branch are met. They lead the development of branch strategic plans, business cases, and project plans for new initiatives.
The role provides expertise across a broad range of activities including customer service delivery, policy development, project management, community engagement, and culture. The Assistant Director promotes a healthy and safe workplace environment and models ethical behaviour in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct and APS Values.
