Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 140km western section of the Hume Link high voltage electricity transmission project. Hume Link is a new 500k V transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia's eastern states. Hume Link is one of Australia's largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.The Hume Link West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500k V double circuit transmission lines spanning 140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa , the Interface Point with Hume Link East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Environment Advisor to join the Hume Link West team.Please note this role will initially be based in Sydney, with transition into a site delivery role requiring DIDO/FIFO or relocation where additional allowances will apply. Local applicants are highly considered.What will a day in this role look like:The Environmental Advisor is responsible for providing guidance and expertise on environmental regulations and sustainability practices for projects and engineering-related companies. They assess potential environmental impacts, develop strategies for compliance, and offer recommendations to minimise environmental harm on projects.Identifying and implementing where appropriate initiatives that identify the Project as a leader in Environmental practices.Auditing, amending and implementation of the Construction Environmental Management PlanProviding sound and timely technical advice, training and assistance to the project Supporting the Environment Manager in developing, implementing and delivering training packages for direct reports and Front-Line leadersSupporting the Environment Manager and design team in reviewing the Environmental Design Deliverables for the Work PackagesSupporting the Environment Manager and the Commercial Team in sub-contractor scope developments and pre-qualificationsMaintaining a positive and outcome driven relationship with key project team members such as the Client representatives and senior project management and supervision teamsWhat are we looking for you to bring to the team:Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or related disciplineMinimum 3 years' experience in relevant environmental roles in the Civil Construction industrySound understanding of NSW Environmental Legislation with proven ability to review and interpret relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice and contractual requirementsDemonstrated ability in developing and interpreting project related documents , preparing reports and monitoring compliance documentationGood personal time management skills with an ability to effectively prioritise and manage assigned workloadThe successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.Where applicable, evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.We are an Equal Opportunity E mployer.
