UGL Utilities team is currently looking for a Construction Manager to commence on site on one of our projects in North Queensland. Project involving the design, construction and installation of high voltage transmission lines and switching substations. The position will be based on site (FIFO Brisbane) on a 10/4 roster.
UGL's Utilities team designs, constructs and maintains critical infrastructure across the water and power sectors, ranging from wastewater treatment plants to power stations.
What Will a Day In This Role Look Like Lead and oversee the end-to-end construction of green and brownfield substation projects, including planning, execution, outages, and close-out. Coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and subcontractors, to achieve project objectives. Develop and manage detailed project schedules and budgets, providing regular updates to stakeholders. Enforce and monitor strict safety protocols and environmental compliance, adapting risk management strategies for high-voltage work. Conduct regular site inspections to assess work quality, progress, and adherence to standards. Resolve on-site issues proactively and facilitate conflict resolution between team members and subcontractors. What are we looking for you to bring to the team: Minimum of 15 years in power transmission or distribution, generation, or heavy civils construction, with at least 5 years in management roles, preferably in high voltage substations or similar projects. Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred. Proven knowledge of high voltage substation construction methods, materials, and regulatory standards. Strong understanding of OHS and environmental legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards. Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera). Excellent communication skills for engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders. Relevant construction safety certifications and a valid Construction Card.
