Central Coast Community Legal Centre (CCCLC) is seeking part-time volunteers wishing to complete their practical legal training in a busy generalist practice that provides free legal services to people living, working, or studying on the Central Coast. These are unpaid

positions. To apply, you must:

Be a third year or above under-graduate OR

Have completed or be close to completing College of Law, or its equivalent at a participating university Be able to work 1-2 days a week (block placements are unlikely as it affects the number of volunteers we can offer a placement) Complete at least 75 days

and Attend a compulsory one-day General Orientation, Cultural Awareness and Intake Training.

Applications should be submitted at least three weeks prior to the chosen Intake date to allow interviews to take place. Applications will be assessed on relevant skills as well as a demonstrated interest in and commitment to not-for-profit organisations and the community sector. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are highly encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who live on the Central Coast and candidates who want to complete at least 75 days with CCCLC. Volunteer Intakes are scheduled to take place on:

During your placement with CCCLC, you can expect to be exposed to a wide range of legal matters, including debt, fines, family, employment, discrimination, motor vehicle accidents, Apprehended Violence Orders, and more! You will gain experience in providing legal information and referral services by telephone, interviewing clients, attending outreach locations, drafting legal letters and court documents, undertaking legal research, developing community legal education materials, engaging in community development, and participating in systemic advocacy. Based in Wyong NSW, CCCLC provides free legal advice to disadvantaged people on the NSW Central Coast with outreach at Toukley Neighbourhood Centre at Mingaletta Aboriginal Corporation in Umina, Yerin - Eleanor Duncan Aboriginal Health Centre in Wyong, and The Glen Men's and The Glen Women's Rehabilitation Centres. We advise unrepresented litigants in Traffic and AVO matters at Wyong Local Court, AVO matters at Gosford Local Court, and operate a Children's Court Assistance Scheme at Wyong, Woy Woy, and Broadmeadow Children's Courts.
