For part-time roles, it's a minimum of 91 days per year, equating to 50% of a full-time employee's annual workload.Given the potential need for short-notice relief duties, preference will be given to candidates residing within a two-hour radius of the operation or willing to relocate at their own expense. Accommodation aboard the tug will be provided during on-duty periods if necessary.What You Can Look Forward ToPort Pirie is located 223 kilometres north of Adelaide at the top of Upper Spencer Gulf and is home to one of the world's largest smelters in the world, exporting large quantities of zinc concentrates and lead.What You Will DoReporting to the Port Manager and the Tug Master onboard the vessel, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our vessels. Your duties will include:Maintaining operational standards of all machinery, ensuring peak performance at all times.Conducting maintenance and repair tasks on marine equipment, including emergency interventions, while adhering to prescribed maintenance protocols.Providing detailed maintenance and operational reports to support informed decision-making.Promptly identifying and reporting operational defects to facilitate swift resolutions.Upholding Svitzer's policies and statutory obligations, prioritizing quality assurance and safety protocols.Engaging in ongoing safety, skills, and competency training, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.Collaborating with fellow crew members, providing assistance on deck as needed.Monitoring and enforcing work health and safety standards, promoting a culture of safety excellence.Contributing to operational enhancements through proactive participation in improvement initiatives.Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations in day-to-day operations.What You Will Need To SucceedTo thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate:A minimumEngineer Class 3 Near Coastal Certificate of Competencyor higher, along with certifications inProvide First AidandCardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)A currentAMSA Medicalapplicable to your Certificate of CompetencyA validMSICor'Job Ready' MSIC Application(or proof of ability to obtain)Previous experience in towage operations will be highly advantageous, showcasing your familiarity with vessel operations and industry best practicesDemonstrated alignment with our culture of respect, integrity, safety, and excellence, both in your professional conduct and personal ethosA collaborative spirit, with the ability to work effectively within a team and foster strong relationships with external clientsProven capacity to perform under pressure, particularly during emergency scenariosStrong attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritise tasksExcellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear and concise conveyance of informationProficiency in problem-solving and fault-finding, coupled with a proactive approach to addressing challengesThe right to live and work in AustraliaIf you share our excitement for the journey ahead and would like to work with leaders in the industry, we can't wait to hear from you!
