This dual-role position combines professional maritime responsibilities with guest interaction. As a Watchkeeper, you will contribute to the safe navigation of the True North under the guidance of the Master & Chief officer. As a Guide, you will deliver unforgettable adventures for our guests, which include fishing, snorkelling, bushwalking & Nature interpretation.
Watchkeeping Duties: Navigate and manage vessel operations in accordance with maritime regulations Maintain a safe and efficient Navigation watch, including ECDIS & GMDSS operation/monitoring Support the Master and crew in ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards Guide Duties: Provide guided tender excursions, ensuring safety and an exceptional experience Lead fishing expeditions and share knowledge with guests Represent True North's commitment to delivering enriching adventures Other Responsibilities: Participate in musters and drills as part of vessel emergency response team on a regular basis Maintenance of fishing, diving and other guest recreational equipment Assist in galley operations where required Participate in loading/unloading of passengers and cargoes from helicopter Assist in refuelling procedures of tenders and helicopter Participate in crane operations Assist as directed by Chief Officer, Master or Cruise Director Aid where necessary for the safe landing of helicopters in the role of the "Landing officer" Maintain security watches & gangway entry control Ensure presence and serviceability of LSA & FFE. Complete vessel safety inspections on a regular basis Qualifications and Experience Must Haves: Valid Master AMSA endorsed Certificate of safety training (COST) Valid Drivers license Proven experience in watchkeeping and vessel operations. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with guests & Crew alike. Strong interest or expertise in fishing and outdoor adventure. A commitment to delivering exceptional service in a high-energy, team-focused environment. Be Willing to Obtain: AMSA 303 Medical. Navigational Watch Rating. MSIC Valid Passport First Aid certificate. Passenger Ship Safety Certificate - STCW Reg V/2 and Code Section A-V/2, para 2 and 3, Table A-V/2-1 (online course) Crisis Management & Human Behaviour certificate STCW Reg V/2 and Code Section A-V/2, para 4, Table A-V/2-2 (Online Course) ** True North is a Regulated Australian Vessel, all crew qualifications have to be AMSA issued or recognised**
