Salary: Total package: $104,090 to $116,579 p.a., including 15.4% superannuation (Base salary of $90,199 to $101,022 p.a., plus 15.4% superannuation)
Employment type: Non-ongoing, full time/part-time
Location: Various locations across Australia including Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, and others.
What is a Triage Counsellor? Triage Counsellors are qualified social science professionals with clinical experience working with children and families, focusing on child protection, family support, and family and domestic violence.
Triage Counsellors assist parties in family law matters by conducting confidential risk assessments, identifying appropriate support services, safety planning, and case management for families at high risk due to family violence, mental health issues, substance abuse, and child abuse and neglect.

New Triage Counsellors receive a structured induction program, ongoing professional development, access to an extensive literature library, and regular professional supervision.
What does a Triage Counsellor do? Triage Counsellors undertake various activities within the provisions of the Family Law Act, including:
Reviewing responses to the Court's Risk Screening Tool (Family DOORS Triage)Conducting reviews of filed material to inform risk screening and assessmentConducting telephone/video interviews to formulate risk assessments, identifying protective and supportive factorsCo-designing safety and well-being plans and making direct referrals to relevant agencies and servicesMandatory qualifications and experience A recognised degree in a relevant social science area (e.g., social work, psychology, counselling, human services)A minimum of three (3) years relevant clinical experience working with children and familiesA clearance for working with children as required within the relevant State/Territory schemeDiversity and Inclusion The Federal Court Australia is committed to supporting an inclusive and diverse workforce and encourages applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds.
