A renowned Local Council is seeking a Treasury Management Accountant to join their team in the new year on a temporary basis!
Your new role Apply critical analysis and problem-solving skills to assess and manage operational risk.Establish and lead the Council's treasury management function, operating as senior specialist providing advice to internal and external stakeholders.Resolve complex policy issues.Periodic forecasting and reporting.Interpret analytical data in relation to forecasting cash flows and performing scenario analysis in relation to investment and borrowing.Manage and review investments to ensure liquidity, manage risks, and optimise returns.Oversee the debt portfolio and provide expert advice to key stakeholders.Perform financial modelling and forecasting using treasury management tools.Conduct high-level research and analysis on complex policy issues and manage their implementation.Monitor and mitigate financial risks related to treasury activities.Maintain and update Debt and Investment policies to comply with regulations.Provide accurate and timely strategic advice to customers, the CFO, and leadership teams.Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for treasury management.Advise on the annual QTC credit review.Stay updated on trends and legislation in finance and accounting.Support the Financial Sustainability Strategy and Framework of the Council. What you'll need to succeed A degree qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or related discipline is mandatory.CPA / CA or equivalent is highly desired.Extensive experience in treasury or senior finance roles, ideally within the public sector or large organisations.Familiarity with, or the ability to quickly learn, the Local Government Regulation 2012 and Local Government Act 2009, along with a solid understanding of Accounting Standards and modern accounting practices.Proven track record in creating and managing cash flow forecasts, investment portfolios, and debt management strategies.Skilled in enhancing financial risk management and treasury governance frameworks.In-depth knowledge of the finance industry and the practical effects of economic factors on the financial sustainability of the Council.Highly developed skills in conceptual thinking, analysis, and problem-solving within a specialised technical environment.Demonstrated ability to produce detailed reports, correspondence, and briefing materials for senior and executive management, as well as elected officials, with the capability to explain complex issues in simple terms.Exceptional communication skills, essential for negotiating, influencing, and leading discussions in a complex and highly regulated setting.Proven success in delivering high-quality projects and implementing strategic changes. What you'll get in return Attractive hourly rate from $60.98-$68.36 p/h + super depending on level of expertise.Contract from after Christmas holiday from the 6th of January - 27th June 2025 with possible extension.Logan is away from the busy CBD.Local Council opportunity.Weekly pay cycles.
