This is a 12-month casual position, based in Sydney (various locations available). About the role We're seeking casual Traffic Control Room Officers to work in our busy control rooms, redirect traffic flow, coordinate response teams, and relay critical info to keep our roads safe, all while remaining naturally composed and alert at all times.
You'll join an innovative team, who tirelessly monitor the flow of the traffic with an eagle eye and respond with lightning speed in the event of incidents, both big and small.

Day-to-day, you will: Work with different control systems to monitor and manage traffic on both open roads and in tunnels Become familiar with Automated Height Detectors, Road Management systems, CCTV, and Automatic Incident Detection Systems Work collaboratively with field staff, Emergency Services, and your team to respond swiftly to incidents, ensuring safety Create Incident Management and Traffic Management plans to ensure efficient and safe road operations Drive improvements in processes and traffic management Collate real-time information on road conditions for stakeholders, media, and customers Understand traffic management policies, practices, and procedures, including operational systems This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including: Experience in a monitoring centre or operational environment Computer smart and analytical, with a fascination for new technology and systems Driven, resilient, and efficient, demonstrating confidence and professionalism Organized and decisive in prioritizing tasks while managing multiple responsibilities Experienced in writing reports with attention to important operational details Comfortable with shift work, as our roads are open 24/7 If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.
