Duties and responsibilities Understand, interpret and apply legislation and regulations and be able to explain the application of the law in a straightforward manner.
Assess industry participant compliance by making impartial observations against Transport Security Programs under the Aviation Transport Security Act 2004 (ATSA) and the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003(MTOSFA) and their associated regulations.
Identify and investigate non-compliance with legislation and regulations, and collect and record evidence that may be used in subsequent enforcement or judicial processes.
Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve work area and Department goals.
Apply work knowledge, policy, procedures and guidelines to situations and make rational judgements and decisions from the available information, including when to refer them to senior managers.
Additional information The following requirements apply to the position: Obtain and maintain an Australian Driver's License with the ability to drive unsupervised Obtain and maintain an Airside Driving License Obtain and maintain a Prohibited Weapons Permit Obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card and an Aviation Security Identification Card Obtain and maintain a Certificate IV in Government Investigations (Regulatory Compliance) Transport Security Inspectors conduct covert testing at security screening points.
These tests may involve carrying inert test pieces either on-body or as luggage through security screening points.
On-body testing may include sensitive area testing, which would include consenting to a frisk search of the groin area or chest area (if applicable).

Eligibility To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and: ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
