Job description: An opportunity now exists with Fuel Distributors of Western Australia to join their dynamic 24-hour operation and play a critical role in managing the transportation of petroleum products within Western Australia.
We are looking for an experienced Transportation and Fleet Manager to lead our fleet operations, ensuring compliance, safety, and efficiency while fostering a high-performing team environment.
This role is responsible for managing a fleet of prime movers, rigid trucks, dollies and tankers.
The ideal candidate will lead a transport team consisting of schedulers, compliance, driver training and the drivers themselves.
The Transport / Fleet Managers role is a key position for the company and works closely with other key members of the senior management team and reports directly to the General Manager.
The position acts as key contact for the supply of fuel and oversees the fleet design, equipment acquisition and disposal, regulatory compliance, driver management, equipment availability and scheduling.
Overall, the Managers activities are to ensure customer orders are completed safely, within agreed timeframes and in a cost-effective manner.
Some of the key areas of responsibility include the following: Fleet and transport management Team leadership Driver training and safety Collaboration with the workshop Operational efficiencies Regulatory Compliance General safety and risk management Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of fuel transport, trucks, trailers, transport equipment in general and a good mechanical knowledge overall.
Experience in areas such as dangerous goods products and product control in the event of an accident will also be essential.
These and other urgent operational issues will require an element of availability after hours and on-call.
Some of the qualifications and experience required to be a success in the role will include: Experience within supply chain management or a related field.
Proven experience (8+ years) in managing transportation operations.
Strong knowledge of fleet management and vehicle maintenance.
Leadership experience managing a team of schedulers and drivers.
Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of compliance requirements for the transportation of hazardous materials.
Familiarity with scheduling software and fleet management systems.
Knowledge of driver safety regulations and best practices in driver training.
