Job Description The primary responsibility of this role is to contribute to the implementation and support of a transition project for students transitioning to GSSC from Grade 6 to Year 7.
The project aims to create a positive and effective transition process by prioritising students' learning and well-being needs and targeting supports focused on enhancing resilience and ensuring a smooth shift from Primary school to GSSC.
The Transition Assistant will work alongside the Transition Lead and be responsible for supporting and building the capacity of school leaders, teachers, and other school-based staff to implement a whole school multi-tiered approach to transition based on the school's High Impact Wellbeing approaches.
The position will assist with the development of transition supports for approximately 400 incoming Year 7 students from approximately 23 Government feeder primary schools.
The role also requires strong working relationships with key stakeholders within GSSC and other key regional partners.
There will be support work required for 6-7 Transition at Numurkah SC in 2024/2025.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills will be essential to deliver this project, along with a comprehensive knowledge of Victorian school education.
The Transition Assistant will need to have a strong understanding of the current issues and opportunities associated with transition in education and knowledge of DE policies and priorities across all areas of student wellbeing and engagement.
