About the role
The Training Support Officer, Aboriginal Access Centre is responsible for providing a first point of contact for potential students and community groups. The incumbent provides vocational and educational counselling, case management and support to current/prospective students and supports Aboriginal students to transition from the Aboriginal Access Centre to mainstream TAFE SA courses. The Training Support Officer assists students to managepersonal, social, health and educational concerns to effect successful completion of studies.Position is responsible for supporting Aboriginal students at Ceduna and Far West Coast Aboriginal communities.
To be successful you will need:
Proven ability to provide Aboriginal students with advice on vocational training and employment plans. Proven experience in working with Aboriginal communities and individuals, including education and the use of intervention strategies and principles – mediation, negotiation, advocacy, problem solving and conflict resolution concerning management/staff/student issues. A sound knowledge of career paths, career service providers and the impact of current labour market trends on career direction. For further information please refer to the Role Description.
Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).

• Eligible to work in Australia
• A current driver's licence is essential
• Required to participate in TAFE SA Performance Management Program
