The Role – The position of the Driver Trainer Specialist provides specialised training, assessment and coaching for Toll drivers in all relevant aspects of their duties including, but not limited to, induction & on boarding, legislative requirements & Toll Group procedures.
The position is to implement the business driver training strategy (incorporating risk, quality, HSE and human resource management systems) continuous improvement considerations in driver training and assessment.
The position plays a key role in the ongoing training and development of drivers to increase service quality and manage the health, safety and wellbeing of employees and the environment, as well as meeting customer contractual requirements.
Seize this incredible opportunity to train the operators of AB Triples and Quad configured road trains, transporting ammonium nitrate to the Northwest of Western Australia.
Primary Responsibilities and Decisions – Conduct a range of training programs to support delivery of Toll Group driver training initiatives.
This will involve group and 1 to 1 training sessions where required.
Assess driver competencies as part of pre-employment checks and re-assess current drivers to comply with business requirements and standards.
Prepare individual driver assessment reports further follow up and review.
Coach drivers to safely and effectively carrying out work processes.
Support daily activities to ensure that work is performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and legislation.
Plan in conjunction with Training Managers and coordinate training requirements and activities – annual forward planning and monthly requirements are communicated to operations to forward plan.
In conjunction with Toll Group Operations Training, support the design and develop quality driver training materials in line with learning methodologies.
Ensure that all mandatory training requirements are met within the business, including effective document control and quality records system - maintaining and tracking records of all driver training and assessments.
What you'll need to succeed – Certificate IV or Diploma in Workplace Training and Assessment.
Heavy Vehicle Drivers Licence (Prefer MC), DG licence, current SSAN (Security Sensitive Ammonium Nitrate) Knowledge of HV mass management, fatigue management, dangerous goods, load restraint, road transport rules and regulations.
Experience as a skilled and competent driver/MHE operator and being an experienced and competent Trainer and Assessor.
A can-do approach towards driver safety, coaching and risk reduction.
Intermediate Microsoft office skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to review training and assessment effectiveness and make recommendation for continuous improvement.
