Your part in our Lifeline team Lifeline provides compassionate support for people in crisis through a number of modes; telephone, text and chat. Lifeline's 13 11 14 telephone service is Australia's largest crisis support line. The 13 11 14 service is staffed by a predominantly volunteer workforce of Crisis Supporters spread Australia-wide across some 40 centres. In order to provide a consistent, high-quality service, all Crisis Supporters undertake initial Crisis Supporter Workplace Training (CSWT) and are then re-accredited annually to a national standard. This applies equally to the 13YARN Crisis Support line.
The Trainer role delivers training and assessments in the nationally accredited Lifeline Crisis Supporter Workplace training courses. Functions include face to face or online training and assessment delivery, monitoring student's progress through stage 1, utilising strength-based, trauma-informed and solution-focused approaches, providing constructive feedback and practice development strategies to support students in achieving competency. This role requires the ability to work flexibly including; working remotely and/or from a Lifeline QLD site, delivering training and assessments outside of business hours and travel to various Lifeline Queensland centres across the state from time to time.
What makes a difference for us? The successful candidate will have a strong background in delivery of accredited training and have demonstrated experience working within a Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention service. Recent Lifeline Crisis Support and Training experience will be highly regarded.
Supplementing this you will present with the following:
Develop training plans and schedules to meet Statewide and Centre requirements utilising available data and feedbackFacilitate CSWT Student information sessions on a rostered basisDelivering training and assessments for accredited courses, monitoring student progress through stage 1, utilising strength-based, trauma informed and solution focused approaches to provide constructive feedback and practice development strategies to support students in achieving competencySupport and collaborate with Centre staff in the development and delivery of individualised training plans as required, to support former Crisis Supporters or former students returning to Crisis SupportMaintain accurate data and records related to training and assessments ensuring that training administration record keeping complies with Lifeline RTO and Lifeline QLD requirementsSupport recruitment, development and engagement of student mentors across the stateHold a specialist portfolio in line with skills and experience as delegatedParticipate in and contribute to the Lifeline Queensland Trainers' Community of Practice, Lifeline Australia's Trainers' Community and other networking and team meetingsParticipate in community and promotional events as requiredComplete annual requirements to maintain Lifeline Australia approval as a CSWT trainerComply with all the relevant UCC and LLA Policies and Procedures, including LLA operations manual and RTO manualsQUALIFICATIONS/LICENCES TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and AssessmentOn appointment, successful completion of LLA requirements for Trainers registration under LLA's RTO requirementsCurrent positive notice Blue Card and Criminal History Record Check on appointment and every two years thereafterQLD Drivers licence Essential
In addition to broad industry knowledge and experience, all CSWT VET Trainers and Assessors must hold vocational competencies in:
- CHCCCS003 Increase the safety of individuals at risk of suicide AND
- CHCCCS019 Recognise and respond to crisis situations AND
- CHCCCS028 Provide client-centred support to people in crisis
OR CHCSS00113 Crisis Support Skill Set
OR hold one of the below qualifications with ability to demonstrate vocational competency to the above listed Units of Competency at minimum:
- CHC42015 Certificate IV in Community Service
- CHC42021 Certificate IV in Community Services
- Other relevant qualifications, Counselling Degree, Psychology or Social Work (must be approved by Lifeline Australia prior to commencing training)
