Trainer, Custodial Operations
Full-time Temporary with a Possibility of PermanencyDetails: ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) is seeking applications from highly motivated and experienced people to fill the position of Trainer, Custodial Operations (POC2), within the Organisational Capability Unit (OCU).
The successful applicant will support the OCU with the delivery of Custodial Mandatory Training (CMT), Custodial Recruit Training (CRT), and other ad-hoc training. You will be required to deliver all aspects of custodial training including but not limited to theoretical, practical, physical, communication, conflict resolution, and reporting. You will deliver training using a variety of methods including group, face to face, one on one coaching, and on-the-job learning.
Trainer, Custodial Operations will contribute to developing training materials to meet agreed training needs including manuals, checklists, workbooks, and other resources to meet operational standards and benchmarks.
To be successful, you will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to think and act in a busy environment, and possess excellent interpersonal, organisational, and administration skills.
Eligibility/Other Requirements: Current custodial experience in a correctional facility is highly desirable.CSC30122 Certificate III in Correctional Practice (custodial specialisation) aligning with current ACTCS units is mandatory. If not held, must be obtained within 12 months of employment.TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) is mandatory. If not held, must be obtained within 12 months of employment.Certificate IV in Correctional Practice (custodial specialisation) is highly desirable.The successful candidate will be required to undertake specific training relevant to ACTCS.The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal record check.Notes: This is a temporary position available for a period of 12 months with the possibility of permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
