About the Role We currently have Trainee Unit Attendant opportunities available at AGL Loy Yang based in the Latrobe Valley. These roles are responsible for assisting in the inspecting, detection, monitoring and reporting of plants faults and undertaking appropriate actions. As a Trainee you will initially be trained in all facets of Unit Attendant operations while working a nine-day fortnight although post-training you will work on a day and night shift roster.
What you will be doing Respond to and investigate suspected or known plant abnormalities. Monitor and report on the physical condition of the power plant. Participate in the development and implementation of operating instructions and test procedures. Remove from service, isolate, restore and place plant into service including low-voltage electrical apparatus. Facilitate unit outage plant change overs and / or emergency drive tests. Perform specified maintenance activities. Carry out plant testing in order to maximize plant reliability. Assist in the provision of safe access to plant in accordance with access permit procedures. About You To be successful in this role you will demonstrate an understanding of mechanical systems and components and have a genuine interest in a career within the power industry. You will be energetic and driven, and possess strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills as you navigate your way around the operation of a heavy industrial environment.
Key Selection Criteria A commitment to ongoing learning as demonstrated by the completion of further studies such as tertiary or trade qualifications. Experience making sound decisions and/or solutions for complex problems under pressure. Demonstrated genuine and ongoing commitment to safety for yourself and colleagues.  Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. Demonstrated high levels of mechanical aptitude.
