(subject to review and approval)About the Role: The CHS Maternal Fetal Medicine Department provides care for women with complex or high-risk pregnancies who require specialised care for either them or their baby.
The interdisciplinary team, which includes medical specialists, sonographers, midwives, genetic counsellors and administrative staff, work collaboratively to deliver exceptional care to patients in the ACT and surrounding region.
The sonography service currently operates 5 days a week (Monday to Friday), however weekend work may become available as services expand.
The Trainee Sonographer is an enrolled student in an accredited obstetrics and gynaecology ultrasound course and will be employed for the duration of their course to complete practical requirements.
Arrangements will be made for the Trainee Sonographer to attend other sites to fulfill any practical elements not provided by the Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit.
Students contribute to the Maternal Fetal Medicine service delivery model within Canberra Hospital under the delegation and supervision of the clinical educator sonographer or supervising sonographer in the provision of patient care.
This includes performing a range of complex and non-complex sonographic examinations with tailored levels of supervision throughout the training period.
We are seeking a suitable candidate with nursing, midwifery or medical imaging background to join a small team of sonographers in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Department.
There will be an initial period of 12-weeks placement to assess the candidate's suitability for obstetric ultrasound training.
The successful candidate will work with our dedicated and highly skilled team of sonographers for the duration of their training program.
Return of service is a condition of a permanent position post-graduation.
Please note prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to: Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.Comply with CHS credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for allied health professionals.Note: This is a temporary part-time position available at (28:52) hours per week for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency and the full-time salary noted above will be pro-rata.
