Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven's major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed base of more than 500.
The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

What You'll Be Doing
The Radiology Unaccredited Trainee will learn, observe and participate in all stages of the radiological examination of patients including referral, triaging, supervision, performance, reporting and communication of the procedure.
They will participate in all aspects of the Department of Medical Imaging, and will work towards being able to competently report diagnostic images, assist with or perform a variety of Tier A image-guided procedures under supervision, and provide radiology advice to clinicians, referrers and radiographers appropriate to the trainee's level of experience.
The successful appointee will perform several roles under supervision: general radiology diagnostic reporting duties relevant to the level of prior training and capability of the trainee, contribute to quality and safety functions in Medical Imaging, contribute to the ISLHD Choosing Wisely program and M&M Meetings, and assist in the clinical assessment, scheduling and triage of patients who are to undergo or have had interventional procedures.
The Unaccredited Trainee will have the opportunity to perform, under supervision, some of the roles of radiology trainees in accredited training positions, subject to the level of prior experience and capability.
Where possible, this will include an introduction to Tier A interventional procedures.
There will be exposure to all modalities (x-ray, CT, ultrasound and MRI).
The position will be located principally at Wollongong Hospital with occasional time at Shellharbour Hospital and Shoalhaven Hospital under direct radiologist supervision.
The position is most suited to a medical trainee who is planning a career in medical imaging and is seeking the skills and experience required to apply for an accredited Radiology Trainee Network Position in the following year.

Selection Criteria
At least three years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent) MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Demonstrated interest in Radiology and evidence of preparation for RANZCR Radiology training and preferably some prior experience in Radiology or related areas e.g.
Nuclear Medicine.
Demonstrated ability to work independently within a complex health care setting with proven time management and problem solving skills.
Ability to perform data analysis and interpretations relevant to medical imaging referrals and activity.
Excellent written, verbal and multimedia communication skills, in order to interact effectively with patients, referrers, colleagues and other team members.
Excellent academic record commensurate with experience, evidence of ongoing learning, teaching activities, potential involvement with projects and research publications.
Understanding quality improvement principles and methodology, and ability to review and analyse incidents.
