Due to our continued growth and success, we are now seeking motivated, self-starters to join our Mackay Branch and grasp at the opportunity to join as a Trainee/Trade Assistant.

Insight into the day-to-day: This is an excellent chance to career advance yourself with an opportunity to undertake our Traineeship Belt Splicing Program.
You can receive a Nationally recognised qualification securing yourself a fully company-funded Certificate III in Polymer Processing and receive a permanent full-time position with an Industry leader!
Under direct supervision of qualified trades and reporting directly to the Site Supervisor this role will see you: Developing skills in conveyor belt maintenance, repairs, installations, and refurbishment, and the general maintenance and replacement of conveyor components.
Assisting on shutdowns with planned belt changes and responding to breakdowns Assist with Belt Splicing and Installations of conveyor belts - fabric, ply, solid woven or steel - cord Assist with mapping and marking out splices; assembling and disassembling vulcanizer; Performing basic hot and cold repairs; Performing pulley lagging with assistance; Installing pulling plates Operate equipment such as winches, winders or vulcanisers.
Participate in and sign off on JSA's; safety observations or toolbox discussions Ensure good housekeeping practices on-site and in the workshop What do we need from you?
Must have a strong safety focus Hold a current driver's licence Previous experience in a Trade Assistant position i.e.
manufacturing or mining (A bonus!)
Possess good mechanical aptitude, as well as sound communication and numerical skills Ability to work on-call and overtime.
Prepared to undergo a full Pre-employment Medical Ideally hold any of the following: Forklift ticket, Working at Heights, Doggers, Basic Riggers, confined space Experience underground or willingness to go underground A willingness to learn from other and listen to instruction Self-starter with an energetic and positive attitude The opportunities: An excellent career opportunity, competitive pay, and exposure to major national projects are all up for grabs.
However, those that are successful will also have access to: Start out as a full-time Trade Assistant and have access to the opportunity of receiving a spot in our Practical Training Facility and achieving a Trade Qualification.
