About the roleWorld Trail is hiring Trail Machine Operators for the Warburton Mountain Bike Destination Project. Candidates should be adept at operating mini-excavators and committed to constructing world-class mountain bike trails while working effectively in a team.
The Machine Operator plays a crucial role in determining the final alignment, shape, style, difficulty, and sustainability of the trail. As such, the role requires familiarity with excavators and a thorough understanding of quality trail construction techniques and practices. As trail construction is a balanced combination of art and science, the role also demands a keen eye for creativity to blend trails seamlessly into the landscape.
Key Responsibilities:Machine Operation: Operate mini-excavators and other machinery, following direction from the Trail Designer and Site Supervisor.Construction Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and motivate the construction team by setting a strong example. Ensure productivity and compliance with project schedules, while providing regular progress updates and maintaining high standards of professionalism.Site Supervision: Oversee trail construction alongside the Trail Designer and Site Supervisor, to ensure alignment with project requirements, and adherence to OHS regulations and company code of conduct. Communicate professionally with clients and the public as needed.Environmental Compliance: In collaboration with the project Site Supervisor, Project Manager and Trail Builders, ensure all project specific environmental controls are implemented and adhered to.Role RequirementsMandatory:Understanding of mountain biking culture and sport.Construction Induction White Card (or obtain before starting).Driver's Licence.Proficiency in operating mini-excavators and familiarity with sustainable trail construction techniques.Ability to lead and motivate a construction team effectively.Commitment to preserving natural and cultural values of the construction site.Willingness to relocate to project areas and live in shared accommodation with other team members (relocation assistance provided).Experience in machine operation for construction of trails or similar roles.Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to trail building.Previous management and/or delivery of environmental controls.LocationWarburton, Victoria (with potential for travel to other locations).
