Public Sector People are working exclusively with a local council in Melbourne's south east to recruit an experienced Traffic Engineer for a 2-month temporary contract assignment with immediate start. As a Traffic Engineer, you will be responsible for:Reviewing and providing comments on transport, traffic, and parking related issues.Assisting with the development and implementation of Traffic Management Plans.Investigating the effectiveness of transport related projects.The successful candidate will have:Previous local government experience in traffic and transport engineering.Strong communication and customer service skills.Ability to work independently and learn new systems and software quickly.This will be a 2-month temporary contract with hybrid working arrangements.Responsibilities and Experience for this role:Respond to customer enquiries and requests.Implement strategies to develop and maintain cost-effective traffic monitoring.Liaise with Vic Roads, Department of Transport, Public Transport Victoria, Emergency Services, Victoria Police, and other statutory authorities.Develop local area traffic management schemes as required.Review and provide comment on Traffic Management Plans.Evaluate and advise on the likely impact of development applications on transport, traffic, and parking.Attend meetings relating to traffic and transport matters, including Council briefings and Council meetings.Undertake and assist engineering staff with traffic management issues that may include investigations, reports, correspondence & support in all areas including traffic-related issues.The ideal candidate will have:Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering.Previous Traffic Engineering experience in local government.Demonstrated knowledge of traffic and civil engineering principles.Understanding of relevant road and traffic guidelines, standards, procedures, and Government legislation.Strong customer service skills & excellent written and oral communication skills.An ability to be part of a working team.An ability to respond to changing priorities and able to complete tasks within tight timeframes.
