Role Overview Teaching in a regional school offers opportunities to diversify teaching knowledge. Resourcefulness and enthusiasm are key elements to managing the dynamics of this role. Purpose of the Position To provide quality instruction to students within the College's values, aims and practices. Within this purpose, the teacher's role will be to:
Develop, provide and evaluate teaching, learning, assessment and reporting practices to meet the diverse and holistic needs of individual students. Demonstrate an active, cooperative and enthusiastic involvement within the spiritual, academic, sporting, cultural, and social dimensions of college life. Provide for the physical, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing and safety of students at school and enhance their overall development towards effective citizenship and mature Christian adulthood (Learning for Life). Selection Criteria Have a personal faith in Jesus Christ and be an active member of a Christian Church. Be in agreement with the College's core purpose and values. Have a professionally recognised teaching qualification. Meet the National Professional Standards for Teachers. Hold a current Queensland College of Teachers registration. Demonstrate competence in relevant teaching area/s and appreciate the responsibility of the teacher as a role model. Behaviour Management Skills Oversee and implement the current Behaviour Management Framework as indicated by the Principal. Establish and maintain positive and consistent classroom management and discipline strategies. Effectively organise his/her classes, and maintain quality care and discipline of the students in those classes and in general College life. Role, Responsibilities And Accountabilities Plan, prepare and deliver quality and effective teaching, learning, assessment and reporting practices that are consistent with the AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers, ACARA and QCAA guidelines, curriculum policies and educational trends. Maintain teaching competency and currency of knowledge as required by the college and other relevant statutory authorities through regular self-evaluation and commitment to professional development. Support students who are marginalised, particularly those who have been victims of abuse, neglect, substance abuse and/or self-harm, through the active development of supportive learning environments and effective behaviour management practices. Manage the behaviour of youth at risk, nurturing their growth and development, demonstrating compassion, love and respect. Work collaboratively as a team including clear and kind communication within the college and the wider community. Implement the College's Christian philosophy in the classroom and other aspects of college life in a natural and spontaneous way that will foster faith. Understand and follow the College's policies and procedures on all matters. Actively contribute to a broad range of school activities as a member of the college team. Qualifications/Experience Experience in teaching students with disabilities and/or learning difficulties. Experience in the delivering and monitoring of curriculum, education assistance plans and verification processes. Knowledge of policies and practices within education.
