Hyundai Rotem Company (HRC) was founded in 1977 and has been leading the industry globally by delivering critical national infrastructure in over 50 countries.
A leader in the Korean rail industry, HRC has succeeded in developing high-speed trains and is now establishing its presence in the Australian market.
Currently, the Australian operation of HRC is working on two major projects:
The New Intercity Fleet (NIF) Project - a joint venture between HRC, UGL, and MEA, delivering a fleet of new intercity trains for operation in the NSW electrified rail network.The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) - a project commissioning, designing, and constructing a new manufacturing facility in Torbanlea Qld and a new maintenance facility in Ormeau Qld.Combined local and international design teams and suppliers will work together to ensure the delivery of manufacturing requirements and associated documentation to ensure that train sets locally manufactured in Australia meet the design, compliance, manufacturability, reliability, maintainability, and safety specifications for the trains' operational life for a minimum of at least 35 years.

Position Summary: The Mechanical Trade Assistant will support the corrective maintenance operations for the new intercity fleet of trains (NIF) at the Kangy Angy Maintenance Facility (KAMF).
This role involves assisting skilled mechanical and electrical tradespeople in performing maintenance tasks, ensuring the trains are safe, reliable, and compliant with industry standards.
The Trade Assistant will contribute to the efficient operation of the maintenance team and help maintain high levels of safety, reliability, and performance of the fleet.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Assist skilled mechanical and electrical tradespeople in performing corrective maintenance tasks on the New Intercity Fleet of trains.Support the inspection and diagnosis of mechanical systems, including traction systems, brakes, and HVAC.Aid in the disassembly and reassembly of train components as necessary for maintenance activities.Ensure that tools, equipment, and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition.Help document maintenance activities and maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory requirements.Participate in safety briefings and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.Assist in the implementation of maintenance schedules and contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance practices.Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues as they arise.Provide support during emergency repairs to minimize downtime of the fleet.Participate in training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.Minimum Requirements: High school certificate or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical fields is preferred.Must be customer focused, team-oriented, accountable, and results-driven.Previous experience in a mechanical maintenance or technical support role, preferably within the rail industry, defence, heavy industry, or marine sectors.Basic understanding of mechanical systems; familiarity with EMU train components is a plus.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues.Ability and willingness to adapt, quickly learn, and utilise new skills and knowledge brought about by a rapidly changing working environment.Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, email.Commitment to safety and compliance with workplace regulations.Willingness to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including weekends and holidays, as required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
