Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising for a Trades Assistant to join the Surface Operations - Workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity to further your experience and develop your technical skills and industry knowledge.
The Role
Reporting to the Supervisor- Workshop Fabrication, your primary responsibility will be to assist the maintenance team to complete works with sand blasting, painting as needed, general trade assistant duties including cleaning work bays and running the workshop floor sweeper, and operating the workshop heavy ridge truck 3 days a week to deliver rebuilt items across the mine lease. The successful applicant will be someone who is hands-on and keen to develop and learn some of the skills found in mechanical fitting and boilermaker trades. They will have a HRW licence and interest in gaining additional tickets as required. This position is residentially based in Mount Isa working a 5/2, 48-hour roster.
The successful candidate will be responsible for: Cleaning work bays as neededKeeping forklifts and LV's in a neat and tidy statePreparing steel from steel racks ready for fabricationGeneral yard maintenancePainting and sand blasting items as neededManaging incoming goods to ensure they are stored and accounted forDriving crane and forklift as required for maintenance tasksRaising any safety concerns and leading by example.The successful candidate will possess: Self-motivated and flexible with a high standard of workA pro-active approach to safety and continuous improvementSound communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively within a small teamCurrent heavy vehicle driver's licenseForklift ticket – preferredFor further information, please contact: Bec McManus on (07) 4744 2080
