Pickers Vinyl & Canvas has been a proud local business in Cairns for over 40 years. We specialize in designing, manufacturing, and installing high-quality vinyl and canvas shade structures. Our services include custom-made shade systems, blinds, awnings, tonneau covers, and banners. We also offer repair services at our Cairns manufacturing centre.
We are seeking a reliable Trades Assistant/Factory Hand to support our manufacturing team. This is a casual or permanent full-time position (up to 38 hours per week), offering the opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced and hands-on environment.
Qualifications & Experience Previous experience in a factory or workshop environment is advantageous Comfortable using hand tools and power tools Ability to handle heavy materials such as rolls of vinyl and canvas Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Team-oriented with good communication skills Capable of working in a fast-paced environment Prior experience in factory/warehouse duties is a plus Key Responsibilities Assisting tradesmen with the fabrication and assembly of products such as shade sails, awnings, blinds, and tonneau covers Cutting and preparing materials for production Using hand tools, power tools, and other factory equipment Maintaining a clean and organized workshop, including performing general housekeeping duties Assisting with stock management and inventory tasks Operating eyeleting machines and press stud tools Supporting the team with various manual tasks as needed Documenting job details using an Android device Why Join Us?
