About the Job About the role The primary function of this role is to assist METRONET project teams in planning access to the PTA Rail Corridor to undertake project construction works.
This role ensures all track access applications comply with the PTA Safeworking Rules and Procedures, as well as Rail Safety legislation.
By coordinating track access meetings, managing applications via the PTA Electronic Track Access System (ETAS), and representing OMTID/METRONET in negotiations with the Network & Infrastructure Maintenance Planning team, the Track Access Planner ensures project and maintenance worksites are aligned and efficiently managed within designated Service Disruption periods.
With a strong focus on safety and compliance, the role maintains accurate records and liaises with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth and safe planning of railway corridor access.
About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess: Extensive knowledge of safeworking rules, procedures, and the operation of urban rail networks, with experience in passenger railway operations or railway infrastructure works.
Proven experience in the application of Railway Safety Management Systems, operational planning, and possession scheduling, with a background as a Protection Officer (PO) and/or Person Responsible for Electrical Safety (PRES) or the ability to obtain the necessary accreditation.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build stakeholder relationships, negotiate effectively, and manage complex interactions across teams.
Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and planning skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, handle competing priorities, and maintain meticulous, auditable records.

There is currently one full time, fixed term appointment up to 30 October 2029 with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency available for immediate start.
