We currently have a great career opportunity in thriving Brisbane office, for an ambitious town planner, looking to take the important next step in their career. This is a full-time position where you will have the opportunity to accelerate your career, working in our Modern Brisbane office (with incredible Bridge and River views).

This opportunity will provide you with the ability to learn and become skilled in a wide variety of Planning projects, as well as playing part in our wider 700 + multidisciplinary team in the APAC region. 

Our planning team currently service a pipeline of projects within the infrastructure, commercial, health and sustainable energy sectors across Australia. You will be provided the opportunity to work independently, from project inception through to approval, on small scale projects as well as being part of larger, multi-discipline teams working on more complex projects.
  Key Responsibilities Responsibilities
The successful candidate will ideally have 2-5 years of experience in the industry. As part of a growing team in SLR, you will be responsible for carrying out services that range from;Undertake development assessment functions for a range of complex applications, from due diligence/site selection, through to approval and conditioning.Work within a multi-disciplinary team that is flexible to change, whilst actively contributing to fostering a positive team culture.Provide technical planning advice to a range of internal and external clients on local, state and regional planning issues.Interpret legislation, regulation and other guideline material relating to various development projects.Be proactive in managing statutory timeframes, as well as supporting negotiations with state and local authorities. Prepare written reports, correspondence, submissions, and briefs on land use planning issues and projects.Undertake research, analysis and problem solving.Represent SLR in a professional and effective manner, at client/industry/stakeholder events.Build professional relationships across the SLR team, and ensure timeframes are adhered to by internal technical leads.You will be supported by senior consultants to develop detailed knowledge and understanding of the Planning industry.


Experience
At a minimum, successful candidates must have:A degree in town planning or equivalentStrong verbal and written communication skills, including report writingStrong statutory interpretation and sound understanding of legislation, regulation and policies in the Queensland Planning frameworkAbility to work in large project teams, by clearly defining timeframes and deliverablesAbility to work unsupervised as well as part of a teamAbility to take the initiative and be proactive in your workplace Experience in the following areas will be advantageous to your application:Exposure to/ understanding of town planning, property, development environmentExperience in renewable energy / projects supporting the energy transitionExposure to/ understanding of the consulting industry Benefits
