The Role
We are seeking a Senior Accountant - Payables to join the Finance team at the Town of Port Hedland.
The role is responsible for leading and coordinating the day-to-day payable operations including Payroll and Accounts Payable functions. This role is accountable for customer-focused, accurate and timely payables functions for the organisation and assists with preparation and audit of the Town's annual financial statements. You will also be leading and coordinating the payroll and accounts payable team and its functions, including providing professional advice, training, and support to all employees.
Our ideal applicant will value collaborating in a customer-focused way and have a comprehensive knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and sound understanding of GST, FBT and other taxation legislation. You will require a high level of written, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
You will be joining the team at an exciting time as the Town embarks on a culture of change with embracing of a wide range of new technologies, a large capital works program, and a number of other projects that make the Town a desirable place to live and work.
Work Related Requirements
The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:
Extensive experience in Finance, Management or Payroll Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards National Police Clearance Rights to work in Australia Employee Benefits
