The Team The Regulatory Services Branch is embarking on a bold new strategic vision and is seeking dynamic, driven individuals to join them on this transformative journey! With a strong focus on delivering enhanced, effective and efficient environmental, community, regulatory and public health services, the Branch has established a number of new roles to support this vision. The Environmental Health Services Team is dedicated to providing high-quality environmental health services, including the provision of expert advice to both internal and external customers, issuance of permits and registrations, and conducting inspections to ensure legislative compliance. The Role Join our Regulatory Services Branch to deliver high quality and efficient environmental and public health services within the Town of Cambridge. As the successful applicant, you'll provide technical advice to the community and staff, conduct inspections and licensing of food businesses, and ensure regulatory compliance. This role also involves being challenged with a variety of tasks including but not limited to, investigating and resolving noise, water and air complaints, undertaking pest control inspections and baiting, public pool and ocean water sampling, processing septic tank and greywater applications, and handling settlement enquiries related to environmental health. Additionally, you'll promote awareness of environmental and public health issues within the community. Applications are being sought for a full-time position; however, part-time applications may also be considered . Selection Criteria This role is responsible for providing an efficient and effective environmental and public health service to the community and residents that aligns with the Town's core values of Respect, Friendly and Helpful, Teamwork, Integrity and Creativity. The successful candidate will mirror the abovementioned values and demonstrate: Demonstrated extensive knowledge of statutory provisions relating to environmental health and public health A minimum of 3 years' experience as an Environmental Health Officer Experience assisting in policy and program development and demonstrate good research and evaluation skills to identify program solutions Work-specific knowledge in the provision of environmental health services Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders and influence to gain cooperation and support Good planning/organisational and teamwork skills including demonstrated ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines Right to work in Australia (birth certificate, current passport, or current visa) Current 'C' Class Drivers License National Police Clearance (no older than 3 months) Tertiary qualifications under the Public Health Act 2016 in environmental health acceptable to the Chief Health Officer of the Department of Health is essential. Authorisation as an Authorised Person and Inspector under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 is essential.
