About the team Questacon's Centre's Business Team is responsible for managing various functions such as the Retail Shop, Memberships, Events and Tourism & School Group Bookings. The section has responsibility for developing connections with Visitors, School groups and Members that promote and encourage more audiences to visit and engage with Questacon. These teams maximise day to day operations and drive new business opportunities.  The role of the Tourism & School Experience Coordinator contributes strongly to Questacon Schools Tourism by promoting and booking visitation to the centre by maintaining client-focused relationships with tour operators, schools, and the general public, which in turn generates revenue. You will work collaboratively as part of the Tourism & School Experience Program team; you will demonstrate good communication skills and contribute to a productive and inclusive workplace. What you will do You will work collaboratively as part of the Tourism & School Experience Program team, you will demonstrate good communication skills and contribute to a productive and inclusive workplace. You will have a sound knowledge of the programs offered by Questacon.   Working consistently with the expectations of an APS 5 in the APS Work Level Standards, the Tourism & School Experience Coordinators is responsible for:  Assisting the Tourism & School Experience Team Leader by driving tourism growth, improving programs, delivering new products and working towards increasing Questacon's educational offerings.  Assist in developing and delivering an education tourism strategy that engages internal teams, with a focus on growing and fostering external educational tourism stakeholder relationships. Assisting the Tourism & School Experience Team Leader in promoting educational tourism initiatives across Questacon including: Managing external stakeholder relationships Coordinating advertising of Questacon's centre-based programs  Distribution of school promotional material  Assist in providing School Experience programs statistics including the creating of fortnightly, monthly and yearly reports to support evidence-based decision making within the School Experience Team.  Manage the continual improvement of the BCE portal, including regular scheduled testing, attending regular meetings.   Proactively representing Questacon within the tourism ecosystem and collaborating with other National Attractions to identify opportunities for improvement and growth. Processing all group bookings for Questacon using the BCE portal. Coordinate and process all invoices associated with group bookings, including following up outstanding invoices.  Assist the Tourism & School Experience Team leader with the delivery of promoting Questacon, including hosting familiarisation groups and routine product updates for tour operators.  Provide a range of administrative support to the Tourism & School Experience Team Leader including managing the Group Bookings Inbox.  Eligibility The successful applicant will be required to hold and maintain a valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Card. To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens. Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level. Notes This position is primarily a place-based position at Questacon, Parkes ACT. A minimum of 2 years' experience in the Tourism Industry is not necessary but preferable. A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.  The department does currently offer flexible work opportunities for many roles.
