About the company/role: Our State Government client is looking for a Science Technician to join their vaccine production laboratory.
This is a full-time position until the 30th of June 2025, with the possibility of extension and the chance to apply for a permanent role.
As a Science Technician, your responsibilities will include: Laboratory procedures in a pharmaceutical clean room environment involved in the processing of vaccine and other biological products.
Pack vaccines and other biological products Maintain stocks of laboratory consumable within the laboratories Preparation of eskies and boxes for vaccine dispatch Maintaining, calibrating and using testing equipment Preparing solutions, reagents, mixtures and media Cleaning and sterilising work areas, equipment and materials including washing of equipment, sterilisation of laboratory equipment, laundering and sterilisation of laboratory coats, mops, cleanroom garments and cleaning of the vaccine production unit and quality control laboratories.
Undertaking observations such as recognising relevant species and identifying environmental conditions Preparing, collecting and managing specimens and samples Ensuring sample integrity via appropriate specimen/sample preservation, handling and transport Performing tests and conducting analyses Measuring and collecting analytical data Recording and documenting data using defined systems and methods Monitor, dispense, order, label and securely store and manage the safe disposal of chemicals and other substances required for scientific experimentation/investigation Receive goods and maintain storage area Other routine laboratory-based scientific technical activities as directed Essential requirements for this role : Vaccination or immunity to Q Fever will be mandatory.
Commitment to obtain vaccination or evidence of prior vaccination will be required prior to starting.
Minimum qualifications Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Biological Science from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent academic qualifications.
Have a current drivers license and own vehicle.
You will be required to maintain an appropriate level of fitness and dexterity and promptly notify your manager of any injury, illness or loss of capacity to undertake standard physical tasks safely and efficiently.
Be prepared to work with and handle chemicals and animal blood.
Be prepared to gown in scrubs and full sterile garments including hoods, boots, coverall and gloves Work in a small clean room space for up to 4 hours at a time.
Highly desirable to this role are: Previous laboratory experience.
Previous experience within a pharmaceutical type of laboratory.
Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
An intermediate level of computer skills and literacy.
