The Rail Timetabling Team is a Group within the Department of Transport and Planning, responsible for:
Business As Usual (BAU) activities in ensuring that the PTV Journey Planner, PTV App, and website are correctly populated on a weekly basis with Metro Train, V/Line Rail, Coach, and Yarra Tram timetabling data.Ensuring that Network Service Change (NSC) changes involving timetabling data are performed in accordance with the NSC Project Schedule.Extraction and delivery of the monthly myki topology data.Monitoring of the digital data mailbox to provide solutions to internal and external queries.Testing and verifying the Timetable System Uplift (TTSU) Metro, V/Line, and Yarra Tram data in the DIVA system.We're focused on outcomes that deliver more choice, connections, and confidence in our travel, ensuring the whole transport network works as one to deliver better services and outcomes.
About the Role This is a Fixed Term, full-time position until 29 August 2025. Strategy and Precincts is responsible for providing policy direction, planning, and leading innovation for integrated simple, safe, connected journeys.
Data and Digital is a division of Strategy and Precincts and is responsible for the delivery of better outcomes for users of the transport system through developing and coordinating customer and transport system insights, strategy, and innovation.
This role is responsible for ensuring timetable data (including route and stop information) provided by Operators is updated in DTP's databases.
This requires liaison with DTP teams, external parties that support DTP's systems, and operators.
The significant complexity of both Operator data and DTP systems is managed by this role, ensuring high-quality data is provided in tight timeframes.
Position Outcomes This role ensures accurate, high-quality data for DTP products like timetables and journey planners through consistent liaison with relevant teams and efficient management of the data import/export process.
It also involves troubleshooting data issues, offering expert guidance, and continuously improving processes to enhance system capacity and effectiveness.
