ALEVA: $101,332 - $108,498 pa
JOONDALUP CAMPUS
FULL-TIME, FIXED TERM (2 YEARS)
Overview The School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University is collaborating on an exciting co-funded project to create an Evidence Gap Map (EGM) in women's sport research. This state-of-the-art project will identify research gaps, assess the quality of existing studies, and establish priority areas for future investigation. The successful candidate will work with experienced collaborators from the University of Technology Sydney and the Australian Institute of Sport.
The Role We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to lead the development of this project. The role involves conducting a rigorous synthesis of evidence, including screening primary research and systematic reviews, assessing the risk of bias, and extracting key methodological insights to inform recommendations for higher-quality research. Additionally, the successful candidate will identify priority areas for future research and collaborate with key partners to ensure the project's success.
Key Responsibilities Research and Analysis Develop a protocol for the Evidence Gap Map using established guidelines. Conduct literature searches, screening, data extraction, and bias assessment. Evaluate methodological and statistical aspects of selected studies. Manage the living map process, data analysis, and visualisation. Disseminate findings through reports, publications, and presentations. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement Work closely with co-investigators from partner organisations. Engage with relevant stakeholders and interest groups. Prepare progress updates, interim reports, and final project outputs. Administration Organize data and maintain project software and repositories. Register the project and ensure compliance with research guidelines. Teaching and Mentorship Deliver seminars or workshops to support student learning. Skills and Experience We are looking for candidates with the following:
Essential: A PhD in epidemiology, statistics, or a related field, or a PhD in meta-research (a preliminary systematic review as part of the PhD does not satisfy this requirement). Advanced knowledge of research methods, design, and analysis, with demonstrable application in publications or projects. Experience with research synthesis methods. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively. Proven ability to work independently, manage desk-based projects, and meet deadlines. Detail-oriented and focused approach to tasks. Desirable: Familiarity with critical appraisal tools and research synthesis software. Experience conducting synthesis of intervention studies. Evidence of professional or academic partnerships related to research synthesis. The successful applicant will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University's values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Courage and Personal Excellence.
