Initial contract to start ASAP until 30 / 06 / 2025 paying approx. $1168 / day Brisbane CBD Location with flexibility to WFH 2 days per week Our client, a well-known Queensland Government Department, is currently seeking a Data Platform Project Manager to work closely with the Director, Business Intelligence on the implementation of a new Enterprise Data Platform.
The Data Platform Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating a number of projects surrounding the implementation of a new Enterprise Data Platform including Data Governance, implementation of new technology, designing and building of the data feeds, ingestions, pipelines, modelling of data and supporting Data Analysts reporting needs and the technical and business aspects of a data platform project, ensuring that the platform meets scalability, security, and compliance standards.
The successful candidate will utilise their high-level skills in data project management experience. Their collaborative team values continuous development, creative thinking, and well-developed communication skills.
In this role, you will collaborate with fellow team members and stakeholders at varying levels across the department to deliver data assets that support the strategic direction.
The team
The Data and Analytics unit is responsible for leading the work of data collection, data management and data analysis. This involves both internal and external data sources and using skills and knowledge in varying technologies such as SQL, Excel, Power BI etc.
Data and Analytics also plays a key role in supporting the rest of the organisation.
As the Data Platform Project Manager, you will specifically:
Refining the scope, goals and objectives of the project to ensure a robust Enterprise Data Platform is established over the next 2 years. Managing and coordinating project resources (including technical staff and budget) to ensure project delivery using agile project management methodologies. Managing risk registers and escalating risks and issues as appropriate. Establishing and maintaining communication and reporting with clients and stakeholders. Management of timeframes and deliverables to meet project requirements (corporate project the Enterprise Data Platform is aligned to). Establishment and maintenance of reporting to governance forums. Ensuring appropriate testing is occurring to ensure quality of solutions. Ensuring appropriate and consistent documentation maintained through development to allow for handover to business as usual. Support the business transition into the new data analytics operational patterns (i.e. use of Microsoft Fabric and provision of curated data sets). Working closely with ICT to define user access management, integration and capacity requirements. The position requires an applicant who has:
Demonstrated agile project management experience in a data platform environment with a methodical approach to project management and experience in the establishment of new enterprise data platforms processing diverse data sets ready to use by data analysts and business units. Experience in coordinating and managing resources, risks, stakeholders, communication in a complex organisational structure. Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills to recommend innovative approaches to data management and processing issues, ensuring accurate and timely outputs to suit client needs. Experience in data platform design and development oversight and ensuring the platform is built using appropriate architecture, integration, data governance and quality and monitoring and optimisation. Demonstrated understanding of data modelling and master data management principles and processes within an enterprise data environment. Stakeholder management with well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build and sustain positive relationships and consult, negotiate, liaise and influence others to achieve mutually beneficial solutions and provide advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders. Desirable skills and experience:
It is desirable for applicants to possess a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or similar quantitative field or certification in project management (PMP, Scrum Master) or data management (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer) are often preferred - or have at least two years' experience in a similar project management role.
This hourly rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading.
