The Role
The Mining Engineer is responsible for the delivery of technical mine planning outputs, to support efficient and cost-effective mining on the Bengalla mine site. Senior Mining Engineers are also encouraged to apply with the role and package able to be tailored for the right applicant.
In This Role, You Will
Develop dig and dump designs and schedules, supporting the Short-term planning and Operational teams. Communicate through daily interactions, the weekly plan process, and meetings. Monitor mining operations and design compliance and feedback any issues and improvements to relevant superintendent. Ensure designs and plans support safe and productivity mining and comply with standards. Undertake projects and investigations and identify improvement initiatives. Provide support in delivering outcomes and achieving improvement. Complete analyses and reconciliation supporting continuous improvement. Provide coverage for other roles in the Short-Term planning Team including Design & Scheduling, Dragline, Drill & Blast, Coal, and Dumps & Haulage. Improve and develop the role, systems, and processes over time.
What You'll Need
Open Cut mine planning experience in a multi-seam operation, working closely with production teams. Mine design experience, adhering to site standards and procedures – (e.g., digs, dumps, roads, stockpiles). Scheduling experience (e.g., Overburden, Coal, Dumps, Dragline, Drill and Blast). Experience in and/or exposure to truck waste haulage and dump management in a complex system. High level judgement, decision-making and problem-solving capability. Ability to respectfully challenge the status quo and drive performance. Strong interpersonal skills, an ability to work well with people from all backgrounds at all levels within the business. Professional written and oral communication skills, numerical analysis, and data validation skills. Strong focus on safe practices and supporting systems and experience working to guidelines and procedures. Strong planning and organisational skills. Computer Skills (spreadsheets, scheduling packages, mine design packages). Professional Manner and a 'Can Do' Attitude.
