Primary objective: Provide executive level strategic advice and management on mine closure and water management and remediation strategy issues to the Rum Jungle Rehabilitation Project (RJRP). Develop and manage mine closure rehabilitation and water management and remediation strategies and activities.
Key duties and responsibilities: Provide executive level strategic advice and management on mine closure and water management and remediation strategy issues to the Rum Jungle Rehabilitation Project (RJRP). Lead the establishment of and support the development, implementation and management of mine closure rehabilitation and water management and remediation strategies and activities. Undertake ongoing analysis of water management strategy and systems using GoldSim to ensure water management onsite is managed effectively. Establish and maintain risk assessment processes, program controls and governance for the technical mine closure, water management systems and processes and environmental compliance. Lead the identification and engagement of consultants and other external resources to support strategic mine closure and water strategies and programs. Selection criteria: Essential: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline. Ability to provide executive level strategic advice and management on mine closure and water management and remediation strategy issues to the Rum Jungle Rehabilitation Project (RJRP). Extensive knowledge of and experience in mine closure and water management and remediation strategies, including the operating environment and its regulatory requirements. In depth understanding of water and load balance modelling including resilience and climate adaption strategies. High level skills in mine closure technical assessments and risk analysis. High level program and project management skills together with the ability to manage major projects and multi-faceted tasks. High level strategic, conceptual, analytical and collaborative skills including the ability and confidence to interpret, manage and influence the social, political, and organisational environment. High level oral and written communication skills including the ability to effectively consult and collaborate and build strong working relationships with stakeholders and with people from diverse cultures. Proven ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships and strategic alliances with external agencies and contractors, industry groups and individuals and Aboriginal Traditional Owners and organisations.
