Primary Objective: Provide expert advice and critical analysis on matters relating to domestic, family and sexual violence reduction and drive policy development and project implementation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Identify, research, develop and analyse complex policy options and provide high-level policy advice to Senior Executives, including the Chief Executive Officer, and the Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence.Prepare major policy papers, submissions, briefs, memoranda and letters of reply on complex policy issues.Develop and implement innovative and effective consultative and engagement mechanisms to facilitate communication between individuals, non-government organisations, the corporate sector, Government and the wider community, particularly in remote areas of the Northern Territory.Investigate national and international trends and initiatives and provide advice regarding the feasibility of adapting such initiatives to the Northern Territory context.Implement a range of innovative initiatives that reduce the incidence and impacts of domestic, family and sexual violence in the Northern Territory.Represent the Department of Children and Families in a range of forums including inter-departmental and inter-governmental meetings.Provide leadership and management for the Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Reduction policy team, including activity workflow and correspondence development, ensuring compliance with Departmental requirements and effective and accountable management of funding.Selection Criteria: Essential: Highly developed expertise and sound experience in policy research, critical analysis and provision of high-level advice, demonstrating strong conceptual and analytical skills.Demonstrated skills and experience in preparing high level reports and correspondence such as Ministerial and Legislative Assembly briefings, Cabinet submissions, National reporting, speech notes, grant guidelines and media releases.Demonstrated ability to engage with other government agencies and stakeholders at community, Territory and national levels, to achieve and maintain effective relationships.Demonstrated high level understanding of the policy framework, context, and challenges of domestic, family and sexual violence within the Northern Territory and of relevant national and international policies, trends and initiatives.Demonstrated knowledge of the workings, issues and pressures of the NGO sector, with particular focus on the DFSV specialist sector, in the Northern Territory and the relationship between service providers and government.Proven ability to manage people and resources within budget allocation.Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in gender studies, public policy, human services or other area of relevance.Northern Territory drivers' licence or ability to obtain.An ability to travel, both within the Territory (including remote communities) and interstate, as required.Experience working in the DFSV sector in the NT. #J-18808-Ljbffr
