Primary Objective: Provide strategic leadership, management, and direction to the Northern Territory Emergency Service (NTES) to ensure a high level of preparedness, capability, and operational response.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
As an effective leader, work collaboratively with the NTFES senior leadership team to inform, set, and drive the strategic direction of the organisation.
Drive organisational and operational performance to deliver outcomes aligned to NTFES strategic priorities, compliant with legislative provisions.
Provide strategic and policy advice on critical matters relating to emergency management, response, recovery, and rescue.
Coordinate Commonwealth emergency services support programs in the NT.
Develop and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships within NTES through effective leadership and engagement.
Translate the NTES strategic agenda into key initiatives, projects, and service delivery actions.
Provide a clear sense of direction and unite operations across all levels of NTES to deliver on strategic objectives.
Represent the NTES, the CEO, and the NT Government nationally and within the Northern Territory.
Ensure the development and implementation of systems and frameworks that enable effective management and delivery of services.
Promote a culture of service excellence and proactive stakeholder engagement.
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
Demonstrated ability to utilise high-level written, oral, and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
Extensive experience in providing strategic evidence-based advice and leadership in a fire and rescue service.
Demonstrated ability to lead strategic planning and workforce development initiatives.
Proven ability to make informed, intelligence-led decisions and translate strategic agendas into initiatives.
Proven ability to model best practice engagement capabilities and relationship-building skills.
Detailed knowledge of legislation, codes, and standards relevant to NTES.
Experience leading a large complex fire and rescue service.
Significant experience in delivering organisational or system-wide strategic initiatives.
Experience in governance and assurance plans relevant to fire and rescue management.
Desirable:
Tertiary qualifications relevant to a Senior Executive Officer within NT Public Service.
Tertiary qualifications relevant to a Senior Officer within the emergency service industry.
