About The Role Kicking off in 2017 as a greenfield operation, Mount Pleasant Operation has grown into a world-class project. We are now seeking a Drill and Blast Engineer to join this highly collaborative team.
As our next Drill & Blast Engineer reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.
The Drill and Blast Engineer will be responsible for drill and blast designs and loading. This role will work closely with the mine planning team to provide designs and schedules to support the execution of the mine plan. Key duties also include:
Loading design – product selection to maximise fragmentation and minimise cost Weekly drill and blast schedules Explosives ordering Blast reconciliations post-blast and communication of results Integrated approach and collaboration with planners to maximise coal flow Communicate any changes to plans across the wider team Develop strong working relationships with the drill and blast team Work with the client team around blast notification and road/rail closures EOM processes and reporting Look for opportunities for continuous improvement of the drill and blast processes onsite Follow safety procedures and promote a safe work environment at all times About You Demonstrated commitment to Thiess principles of Discover, Accountable, Respectful, and Empowered Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering (or equivalent) Minimum 2 years' site experience in an operational mining engineering capacity (open cut preferred) Attitude to learn and work ethic to deliver the required information to the drill and blast crew Experience with Blast Logic, Vulcan or similar software Ability to work collaboratively within a small team environment A commitment to the best practice of health and safety at all times Excellent behavioural, time management, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills What Thiess Can Do For You Thiess' commitment to ongoing training & development Mon-Fri Roster Monthly RDO Health & wellbeing rewards program through AIA Vitality Salary continuance insurance Salary sacrifice options – novated leasing Range of corporate discounts including health insurance (Medibank), travel & retail products About Us At Thiess, we partner with our clients to deliver excellence in open cut and underground mining in Australia, Asia, and the Americas.
