Position Details: Classification: SCHCADS Level 2-3 ($33.41 - $40.05ph) – dependent on qualifications & experienceEmployment Type: Permanent Part-timeHours: Morning, Afternoon, Evenings, Weekends, Sleepovers and Active nightsLocation: Canberra Region, ACTAbout the Role: As a Therapeutic Youth Worker at MacKillop, you will play a vital and rewarding role in delivering high-quality therapeutic support to vulnerable children and young people with a disability. You will be responsible for addressing their emotional, social, and behavioural needs within their home and the community.
This role primarily focuses on supporting a young person with disability and complex needs who cannot be accommodated in foster care and often face challenges related to disability, emotional wellbeing, and behaviour.
Responsibilities: Provide vigilant and focused care, particularly around the youth person's feelings and seizure prevention.Engage actively and positively with the young person, creating a safe and nurturing environment.Work collaboratively with a team to ensure the young person's well-being and development.Be proactive and attentive to the needs and changes in the young person's behavior and health.To thrive in this role, we are looking for individuals who possess the following qualities: Experience working with disabilities and seizure prevention.Experience with vulnerable children and young people, especially in trauma environments.Motivation, passion, and resilience to work with young people.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and think on your feet.Positive and friendly attitude.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Requirements: To be eligible for this role, you must possess:
