We encourage people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and people with disability to apply.About the roleAs a Therapeutic Specialist you will provide direct therapeutic support and intervention development for Children & Young People in our care who have backgrounds of complex trauma, abuse and/or neglect, and in some cases physical and/or psychosocial disabilities requiring support. You will also deliver specialist support to our care teams through therapeutic supervision, practice support and leading reflective practice sessions.This permanent full-time position offers the flexibility to be based across the Central Coast, Hunter Valley and Newcastle Regions, with the option to work from both home and office environments, ensuring a balanced approach to professional and personal life.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide evidence informed advice and recommendations on understanding and minimising negative impacts of trauma, promoting healthy age-appropriate development and building and strengthening skills and competency.Provide evidence informed training and support for carers and staff regarding therapeutic support.Lead implementation, maintenance and monitoring of Children and Residential Experiences (CARE) principles and practice and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).Undertake assessments and reviews such as Behaviour Support Plans and Restricted Practice Plans as needed to best support the ongoing needs of Children & Young People.Provide expertise and support to Case Managers, Carers, Families, House Managers & Therapeutic Support Workers in the formulation and ongoing management of Therapeutic Care Plans, and to ensure purposeful supports are provided in line with CARE principles.Coordinate preventative strategies to ensure continuity of care and mitigate placement breakdowns.Advocate on behalf of Children & Young People by engaging agencies and organisations to support consistent therapeutic practice.Complete client matching, contribute to intake assessment and support the transition of Children & Young People into homes.Skills & ExperienceTertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or other related discipline.Current registration or eligibility for registration with the professional body relevant to your qualification.Demonstrated experience in working with children or young people in out of home care who have experienced trauma, abuse and/or neglect.Ability to develop and promote positive person-centred behaviour supports.Strong understanding of the impact of trauma and complex behaviours.Current Driver's Licence.Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and NSW Working with Children Check.How to ApplyInclude your resume and covering letter in one document, click 'Apply' and follow the prompts.
