Full time, fixed-term position with the University of Sydney as an experienced Compliance and Assurance Specialist until December 2026 Base Salary $121,508 - $137,032 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity
The Compliance and Assurance Specialist is responsible for providing leadership, support and advice to the Central Operations Services (COS) PSU with respect to policy and process development, legislative compliance, development & execution of the COS assurance program and continual improvement.
The Compliance and Assurance Specialist will design and implement robust compliance and assurance practices and help build a culture of effective compliance and assurance management across COS.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Develop and implement a robust assurance program for COS, including second party audits of suppliers and ensuring first line assurance is in place and effective. Support the implementation of appropriate governance, risk and compliance activities. Work with the COS management team to implement controls assurance to support the legislative compliance program. Monitor and report the implementation of policies and procedures. Develop and foster appropriate and positive partnerships with leaders and their teams and areas outside COS to ensure an integrated approach to process and assurance. Act as the Policy Specialist for COS with respect to liaison activity with the Policy Management Unit. About you Degree qualifications in a relevant field and/or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience. Demonstrated ability in establishing programs, conducting reviews, investigations and/or assessments on compliance matters and/or controls assurance. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with a variety of matters. Understanding of compliance, risk resilience and management as well as audit techniques. Risk and assurance experience in a complex organisation is desirable. Sponsorship / work rights for Australia
